AIDS Walk New York would not be possible without the help of our wonderful volunteers. Are you or your group looking to make a difference by donating your time? Volunteering may be the right choice for you! There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer both before and on the day of the Walk. Whether you’d like to start right away, or would like to help with the weekend of the event, we have opportunities for all ages and groups!

Volunteer Registration for AIDS Walk New York 2019 will open in mid-December.

Pre-Event Volunteer Opportunities

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us call and register participants before the day of the Walk! We also need help from volunteer groups to prepare materials to be sent to local businesses, teams, and walkers. Contact us at 212.807.9255 to find out more about our pre-event volunteer schedule!

Day-Of-Event Volunteer Opportunities

We need nearly 2,000 volunteers on Sunday, May 19 to ensure a safe and fun day for all at AIDS Walk New York! You can help us greet participants, tally donations, cheer on walkers, and so much more.

ROUTE MARSHALS
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 19 from 6:45 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Meet at Central Park West and 72nd Street.
No Orientation

Route Marshals direct the flow of participant traffic and help keep walkers safe at key intersections along the Walk route. This allows them to get a great front-row seat and cheer on walkers as they go by! They must be outgoing, energetic, and good communicators in order to guide the walkers safely. Route Marshals Volunteers must be at least 16 years old or accompanied by an adult.

SIGN-IN
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 19 from 6:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
You will receive your Sunday reporting location at orientation.
Mandatory Orientation: Tuesday, May 14 from 6:30 p.m. -- 8p.m. OR Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. -- 12 p.m.

Be the first face that participants see the morning of AIDS Walk New York! Sign-In Volunteers check in walkers and collect the funds they have raised. You must be friendly, outgoing, detail oriented, and have a valid photo ID. Sign-In Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and fluent in English.

CHECKPOINTS
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 19 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Report directly to your assigned Checkpoint. Specific instructions and location assignments will be given at the orientation.
Mandatory Orientation: Saturday, May 18 from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Meet in Central Park at the Naumberg Bandshell, northeast of Sheep Meadow.

Our Checkpoint Volunteers help set up, manage, and clean up our Walker Checkpoints along the route. Distribute snacks and beverages to our dedicated walkers. Help direct walkers to services such as restrooms and first aid. All ages are welcome! This volunteer position is great for families and groups.

CHECKPOINT 4
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 19 from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Meet in Central Park at the Naumberg Bandshell, northeast of Sheep Meadow.
No Orientation

Checkpoint 4 Volunteers help set up, manage, and clean up our walker checkpoint at the Start/Finish Line (also known as Checkpoint 4). Distribute snacks and beverages to our dedicated walkers. Help direct walkers to services such as restrooms and first aid. All ages are welcome! This volunteer position is great for families and groups.

INFO ARMY 
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 19 from 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Meet in Central Park at Volunteer Sign-In, located at the Naumberg Bandshell, northeast of Sheep Meadow.
Mandatory Orientation: Saturday, May 18 from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.
Meet in Central Park at the Naumberg Bandshell, northeast of Sheep Meadow.

Welcome walkers as they enter Central Park and be part of the excitement at the Start and Finish Lines of AIDS Walk New York! Direct walkers on the venue, guard restricted areas, and help answer their questions. Energetic and outgoing personalities are a must! Info Army Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.


DELINEATORS
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 19 from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Meet at Central Park West and 72nd Street.
No Orientation

Help us assemble and "delineate" the AIDS Walk New York route before the Walk starts and break down the route once walkers have completed it. Delineator Volunteers must be comfortable with physical activity and lifting. Be prepared to get a little dirty!

FINISH LINE HOOPLAH
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 19 from 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Meet at Checkpoint 4, located in Central Park at the Naumberg Bandshell, northeast of Sheep Meadow.
No Orientation

Be the first to welcome back the walkers! Help us celebrate at the finish line by handing out Seals of Completion and cheering as the walkers return from the route. Then stick around to help us make sure the venue is spotless and beautiful.

SATURDAY SET-UP
AIDS Walk Shift: Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Meet in Central Park at Rumsey Playfield.
No Orientation

We need a lot of help on Saturday, May 18 preparing for the big event! Help set up the Teams Area, assemble the Sign-In Area, and assist with the placement of posters. This volunteer position is great for those who prefer to walk on Sunday, May 19.

SECURITY
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, May 19 from 7:45 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Meet in Central Park at Volunteer Sign-In, located at the Naumberg Bandshell, northeast of Sheep Meadow.
No Orientation

Help with crowd control and security during the AIDS Walk New York Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Security Volunteers must possess excellent leadership and communication skills.

STRIKE CREW
AIDS Walk Shift:
Sunday, May 19 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. OR from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Meet at Checkpoint 4, located in Central Park at the Naumberg Bandshell, northeast of Sheep Meadow.
No Orientation

Help us clean up and break down the event venue after you cross the finish line. This position is great for groups!

TEAMS
AIDS Walk Shift:
Sunday, May 19 from 6 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Meet at the “Information” table, located in Central Park at the south end of the Literary Walk Mall.
No Orientation

Assist us in setting up and directing walkers in and around our Teams Area! A team is any group of two or more walkers – co-workers, students, religious/civic organization members, friends, and/or family members – who raise money and walk together at AIDS Walk New York. Teams Volunteers help us welcome these dedicated AIDS Walk participants and assist with clean-up once the Walk begins.

TOTALING TENT
AIDS Walk Shift:
Sunday, May 19 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Meet in Central Park at Volunteer Sign-In, location at the Naumberg Bandshell, northeast of Sheep Meadow.
No Orientation

Help us as we process donations and tally the funds turned in by our participants on the day of AIDS Walk New York. Totaling Tent Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and have some experience with a 10-key calculator. Please check in at the Volunteer Sign-in tent when you arrive and you will be directed to the totaling tent.

VENUE GREEN TEAM
