AIDS Walk helps GMHC provide a host of essential services for over 13,000 clients, and the money raised also helps GMHC cover operating costs that enable us to offer those services.

Did you know that raising $500 helps GMHC serve 125 hot meals to people living with HIV and AIDS?

Did you know that raising $25 helps GMHC buy 3 HIV tests so that more people know their status?

Raising $50 can give 2 weeks of groceries for families affected by HIV.

The important work that we do at GMHC is crucial because although new infections in New York City continues to decline, there are populations that are still extremely vulnerable to HIV.

GMHC is evolving to meet the needs of our clients and the community at large in ways including:

• Reaching out to the growing older adult population: More than half of all people living with HIV in the U.S. are age 50 and over. During the past several years, GMHC has dramatically expanded its research program and services for long-term survivors and older adults living with HIV.

• Connecting people to PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis): Each year, GMHC connects hundreds of people who test HIV negative to PrEP, helping many to figure out how to access, pay for, and stay on PrEP.

• Helping HIV-positive people get and stay on treatment: We know that if a person has an undetectable viral load, they cannot pass on the virus.

• Educating young people: GMHC is now the largest provider of HIV prevention and comprehensive sexual education for young people in New York City public schools.

• Advocating for our clients: GMHC works with elected officials and community leaders on the city, state, and federal levels to put the needs of our clients first.

30 plus years and we're still fighting. Join us May 19, 2019 in Central Park.
