In 1993, I participated in my first AIDS Walk NYC. This was still a time when contracting HIV was considered a death sentence. Through miraculous life-saving treatments and prevention efforts, HIV infection is now considered a chronic health condition, no longer the death sentence it once was. This is predicated on the assumption that those who contract HIV, have access to the medication and treatment options available. While programs exist, far too many still do not have access to these life-saving drugs.

I'm walking to help make life-saving treatments available to everyone. I'm walking to help end the stigma of HIV infection. I'm walking for those who cannot.
